GUATEMALA Bella Carmona

This coffee comes to us from Beneficio Bella Vista, which is owned and operated by the Zelaya Family, in the Antigua region of Guatemala. The region’s rich volcanic soil and cool weather provide the perfect conditions for producing some of the world’s most prized coffees. The Zelayas focus on several agricultural techniques to improve soil health and overall quality, including pruning, soil enrichment and disease prevention methods. They also work with hundreds of small farmers in the surrounding areas to help them achieve similarly sound environmental practices, often processing their cherries at the family mill.

This coffee represents a first for us, being the first lot from Antigua we’ve had the pleasure to work with. Prior to this, we’ve exclusively sourced lots from Huehuetenango. This first Antigua lot is bright, pleasant, and exceptionally drinkable. Strong notes of tart green apple and dried apricot take center stage while a warm undercurrent of cinnamon provides an earthy balance to the cup. When grinding, lean a bit coarse to accentuate the brightness this coffee has to offer. We hope you enjoy!
