**NEW** COLOMBIA El Tambo

This coffee comes to us via Cafe Imports “Regional Select” program. The program is designed to create a “taste of place” experience, giving the brewer/drinker a broad overview of what that region’s coffee has to offer in terms of flavor. This particular lot is sourced from multiple farms and producers across El Tambo, a municipality in the Cauca region, on the western edge of Colombia. Thus, this lot is meant to be indicative of the terroir unique to western Colombia.

Because this lot is a blend of harvests from across El Tambo, the cup experience differs a bit from what we typically see from washed Colombian lots. In contrast to many of the brighter, more berry-forward washed Colombian coffees, this one instead leans into heartier flavors sometimes more indicative of Kenyan coffees. Dominant notes of sweet red cherry tomatoes lead the way with backing from a secondary sweetness akin to toasted sugar. Behind that sweetness lies a spicy earthiness like cumin and clove. This is a unique offering in the spectrum of Colombian coffee and we hope you enjoy!
