NOT NEUTRAL SUMP MUGS BACK IN STOCK. STL & NASHVILLE.
We are happy to announce the arrival of our classic Sump coffee mugs, just in time (barely) for the holiday season. These are the same classic, perfectly balanced and weighted, left handed or right handed mugs we've offered the last several years, with a slight Sump script update for 2018. And once you have coffee out of one, it's hard to go back to a traditional diner style mug.
GIFT CARDS.
Don't know what to get that special coffee someone for the holidays, we've got gift cards available in pretty much any denomination you can imagine/desire. Unfortunately, at least for this year, they are only redeemable in our physical STL and Nashville shops, not available for online purchases at this time.
ATE & SUMP COLLABORATION. NASHVILLE.
In Nashville, we're happy to announce a coffee and food collaboration happening December 18th. Chef Sophia Agtarap cooks the best Filipino food in town, and we've partnered with her Ate’s Nashville pop-up to bring you a limited tasting menu. $50 will get you small plates, Filipino-inspired coffee mocktails, and dessert - 7PM, Tuesday, December 18. Buy your tickets at http://atenashville.com/sump.
YARD SALE.
It's been 7 years since we opened Sump in STL, back on December 1st, 2011. And in that time we've accumulated a lot of stuff. This Saturday in STL, we'll be offering some of that stuff to you in the form of what we're calling a Yard Sale. There are some treasures in this lot. Most of it represents glassware we might have once used or the sets became incomplete through breakage, as well as, some orphan brewing devices. There are going to be bargains all around. The goal is for you to take them home, so deep discounts. Check out Instagram stories for some teasers of items that will be offered starting tomorrow.
SANTA. PICTURES. GEZELLIG. SUNDAY 12/16.
This Sunday, from 10:30 to 2:30, Scott will be helping Santa out and acting as a stand in for photos with Santa at Gezellig. It's really a great experience. Kids, pets and adult humans are all welcome to come in and get their photo taken with 'Santa'. https://gezelligstl.com/events/2018/12/16/pictures-with-santa
COFFEE CHAMPS 2018.
This year/season Coffee Champs will hold a qualifying event in Nashville to determine who gets to have a chance at competing for the US national titles of Barista Champ, Brewers Champ, Cup Tasters Champ, Roasters Champ as well as a new event that I'll call Coffee Mocktail Champ. We are putting competitors up for some of these categories as well as volunteers to help with event judging. But that's not the important part. The important part is that we're working with some of our partners to host special events in the shop in Nashville during the weekend of the event in January. We're working with Bellwether and Ground Control to help us host events that highlight their innovative products and significant their impact on coffee to both Coffee Champ attendees and non-attendees. Stay tuned, but from our initial discussions with both companies the ideas being given birth to have me very excited about these events.
ROASTERS CHOICE.
Still don't know what to gift that special coffee someone? Maybe Sump's Roaster’s Choice Coffee Subscription would fit the bill. The goal of the program is to introduce a new coffee every two weeks. A bi-weekly subscription will keep on surprising long after the holidays have packed it in for another year. Explore the website for more details!
NASHVILLE SPECIFIC.
Weekly coffee tastings. Every Friday from 4-5pm, Sump Nashville hosts up to 10 guests at the Little Bar, brewing up a selection of our offerings (and perhaps a surprise or two) with the simple intention of tasting while discussing their origin and taste experience. This is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions, get to know the Sump perspective, and delight in the ways in which our palates perceive flavor among other things. RSVP to reserve your spot on our Events page.
"Happy Hour" Our Tuesday Happy Hours are really quite special, featuring a rotating EK espresso shot & pourover pairing. The expression of the coffee between two methods is both complementary and stimulating. We also offer $1 off seasonal drinks and teas, so come push through the week and grab a drink with us!
Arete Fine Chocolate in Nashville. David and Leslie Senk craft single origin chocolates in Spencer, TN. We are so excited to feature some of their bars in our Nashville home, namely a nutty and smooth Viet Nam 73% and a duly berry-noted Madagascar 70%. Check out their website for their thoughts on chocolate, among other things, http://www.aretefinechocolate.com/blog.
